The carton can be reused and is recyclable through your local council. Thermogard icepacks are reusable, and do not contain any chemical nasties or toxic ingredients. but when the time comes to dispose of your gel icepack, follow the simple instructions on their website. The insulated liner is Envirofoil and can be reused, or recycled with soft plastics.
How soon do I need to consume my cheese once I receive it?
Individual products will have their own best before dates; however we recommend that you eat all of your cheese within two weeks of receiving it or via the best before date should it be a short date cheese. We know it is unlikely that many will last this long! If you are unsure please feel welcome to ask us orders@smellycheese.co before or after any purchases.
My gel packs melted. Is my cheese still ok?
In the summer months it is likely that the gel packs will be fully melted by the time they arrive at your door. We, along with our packaging supplier, have temperature tested our packaging to make sure they keep the cheese safe (and delicious) within the two-day delivery. In the hot summer months, we use more gel packs and we may send your cheese in a foam box if you are in a remote location.
It is best to store your cheese in the fridge when it arrives to keep it lasting longer. When you’re ready to eat it, take it out and let it come to room temperature, this is always the best way to eat cheese! Accidents and delays do happen with shipping and we do our best to watch our system for these but please let us know at orders@smellycheese.com.au (with photos and a brief description) if your cheese arrived in a questionable state and we’ll work to find the situation immediately!
