The French Box
Born and bred in Normandie, France, Valérie Henbest (Smelly Cheese Co. owner, and self described "cheese tragic") made the ultimate life change by moving to Australia over 20 years ago. With very little hesitation, Valérie decided to take her destiny into her own hands and worked towards making sure she would share with us one of the things that she missed the most: le Fromage!
Currently our box boasts the below delicious inclusions. Gluten free? No problem! Don't like blue cheese? Easy! Just let us know in the notes section when you reach the shopping cart. To add a bottle of wine simply select this option from the drop down menu - and we will pick the perfect bottle to match your cheeses!
Fromage de Meaux - île-de-France, France - White Mould - Cow's Milk
This creamy brie has soft yeast and hazelnut notes. The centre of the cheese is rich and creamy with a smooth, supple texture. When fully ripe it will develop some brown rusty patches on the rind, ooze from the centre and have a robust flavour.
Epoisses - Bourgogne, France - Washed Rind - Cow's Milk
poisses has a moist shiny rind containing an oozing creamy interior that melts in the mouth. The aroma is powerful but pleasant and the flavour is strong but balanced between sweet, savoury and salty.
Marcel Petite Comté Select 14 months - Raw Cow’s Milk - Semi Hard - Franche-Comté, France
Named after the Franche-Comté region, this is the most popular cheese eaten in France, with 40,000 tonnes produced per year. Fromagerie Arnaud select from quality cheese makers and transport the cheese to their own fort for maturation. This takes place inside a former Napoleonic fort buried into a hill, with magnificent vaulted rooms and kilometres of galleries. The fort holds 75,000 wheels of Comté and each wheel is graded every three months to ensure the best quality. This cheese has buttery, roasted-nut aromas and a sweet finish. It has nutty, aromatic flavours.
Papillon Roquefort AOP* Tradition ‘Emotion’ - Aveyron, France - Blue Vein - Sheep's Milk
Roquefort is a powerful sheep's milk cheese: rich, tangy, and reminiscent of bread and yeast. It crumbles yet is creamy in texture. Moist pockets of blue flavour spring to life on the palate, offering a contrast to the full, creamy paste.

Minimum total cheese weight is 800 grams.

Click and collect - please include in the order notes the day you would like to collect.
Delivery - we dispatch on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of each week (except for South Australian public holidays). You will receive a notification to confirm when this has taken place. MailPlus via Toll is our delivery partner for all states.
