Section28 Mont Cheval
Section28 Artisan Cheeses is an artisan producer of high quality, handcrafted Alpine cheeses that quintessentially capture the terroir of the Adelaide Hills.
Mont Cheval is a classic semi-hard alpine cheese that is washed twice a week with the Pinot Noir lees from the winemaking process of their neighbours, Murdoch Hill Wines. The washing turns the rind a deep purple colour and, after being further aged in a cave, the Mont Cheval boasts a complex meaty, spicy flavour that hints at fresh grass and roasted nuts.
The Murdoch Hill vineyard and winery are located behind the township of Oakbank in the beautiful Adelaide Hills. From mature vines in the Piccadilly Valley, this is an elegant perfumed Pinot, with scents of wild strawberries and cherry, together with a little spice. This supremely elegant, layered yet intense wine finishes with superb fine tannin's on a lovely, long finish.
Serve a generous chunk of Mont Cheval with the Murdoch Hill Phaeton Pinot Noir, dried fruits and plain crispbreads.
